Geeze! These type of shenanigans make me consider homeschooling!

I support the Board of Education's amendment to the regulation.  With as much quality classical literature out there, I cannot believe that Fairfax county is assigning books with salacious content.  I wholeheartedly support the amendment to provide advance parental notification and opt out options for children assigned to read salacious books.

From what I understand, someone's teenage son was required by his Fairfax County public school AP English teacher to read a book with graphic depictions of gang rape, molestation, bestiality, and violence towards children. THIS IS EXTREMELY UPSETTING TO HEAR, as currently I only have young children, and I cannot believe that the parent was not notified to consent to the assigment, but more importantly, that the teacher could not have found something that was appropriate for a MINOR to read.  FAIRFAX COUNTY, WAKE UP!  YOUR REPUTATION AS A STELLAR PLACE TO MOVE TO BECAUSE OF YOUR PUBLIC SCHOOLS WILL BE SEVERELY DAMAGED IF YOU DO NOT PASS THIS AMMENDMENT!!!

I will be following this issue closely.  And I never miss an election.
