Notify parents so there can be fruitful discussion at home

Most teachers inofrm parents what the year's course of study is with a syllabus, in my experience so far.  If making sure that's done requires an amendment, then so be it.

When parents are aware of what their kids are reading for school, they can read along, foster fruitful discussion at home, and guide their children's moral decision-making skills as they mature.  Particularly when the material is of a sensitive nature, parents should be informed.

As I said, I think most teachers do that already.  Even so, I support the amendment to make it an explicit requirement, with an opt-out option for those parents who object to the content or believe it will be harmful to their child.
