Support Parental Notification and teaching alternative books

There are so many great books available to teach our children the lessons of life.  The comments of dissent argue about implementation and the language of the amendment.  However, the fundamental question at issue is choice for the parents for their kids and for the kids.  I support advanced parental notification of sensitive materials as a sensible step as well as identification of books containing sensitive material.  As an involved parent, we can then read the books first and make an assessment.  Finally, I also support op-out options for students who do no wish to be present in the classroom when discussions on sensitive topics take place.   The steadfast push against even considering teaching alternatives based on rationale concern by the administratiion seems to require a stronger response then just rolling over.
