Oxford House means so much to me. The love and support and growth I’ve gotten from these women in these houses is indescribable. A main reason why Oxford House works is because of the model of being self governing, self supporting and self ran, the way it has been since 1975. To introduce staff into a house that is functioning off of integrity and holding each other accountable is an insult and unnecessary. This isn’t a program. These are homes. Please keep Oxford Houses operating the way it has always ran. Democratically. I support rules that keep people safe, but rules that require staff or assume every home is a commercial business would keep Oxford Houses from operating in Virginia, even though research shows our model gets the best results. Please change those rules, and please clarify whether house members are considered the operator.
