Recovery is different for everyone. There are different levels of care and the outstanding men and women that live in these homes have every right to remain self governing and self supporting. I’ve worked closely with countless people in recovery and I believe Oxford House works because of the model it operates under. I support rules that keep people safe, but rules that require staff or assume every home is a commercial business would keep Oxford Houses from operating in Virginia, even though research shows our model gets the best results. Please change those rules, and please clarify whether house members are considered the operator.
Please allow Oxford House to remain operating in Virginia.
Thank you,
John Morrow
