As a parent of children in rockingham county and va school systems, i have been very proud to have my children in these school systems through out the years, I brag on behalf of the quality of education and respect and love that I feel that they have been provided with. So it will be very unfortunate if this decision is made on behalf of the school system in VA.
I do not have any problem with children being transgender. And I feel like this is a topic that many people don't fully understand.
I am a hairstylist and a client of mine has expressed her full journey in this situation of being born a deaf little boy and transforming into a woman as a adult. Her story broke my heart. And the support of her parents were non existent as a child. This broke my heart.
However, it is absolutely NOT in the place of the school to encourage or help a child to determine such a decision. It is the school systems job to provide a education. The education is not to include any decisions against the parents authority. This instead becomes brain washing and more of a attempt to remove authority from the parents. I do not agree with this and i am a mother of four boys, and i hope to be a grandmother one day as well. You will find no children or grandchildren of mine that will cooperate and or attend your school system with such policies existing. And i will withdrawl my children immediately should you pass this decision.
It's a subject that i understand exists and perhaps needs it's place in the world. However in the hands of the school system is absolutely inappropriate and u do not have my support and I will lose complete faith in the entire school system as a whole if this decision is made. I feel like a whole separate program and place for such a topic should exist.
I appreciate that u attempt to provide the very best for everyone, I appreciate u thinking of every way to accomodate others that u can. However u are here to provide a education alone. And not interfere with sexuality preferences and the privacy of child and parent being compromised. So with that being said, May God be with you as you make your decisions tonight or tomorrow, and please know, you will lose a entire family of attendance should you try to interfere with the quality of our lives in such a way. I will have no anger towards you and no hard feelings, but you will never have a child of mine in such a school system.
God bless the children who need these accommodations and suffer, I pray that a program separate from the school system can be created. However it's not the school systems responsiblity and it's just extremely discouraging to imagine such a situation arising.
Prayers to all
