As a parent, and teacher, I strongly oppose this bill. Too many times we have argued that parents need to be more involved in their child’s education when it comes to completing homework, or making the grade, but now we don’t want them involved with a much more important issue as gender identity? What are we saying is more important? Is it more important for parents to ensure their child does homework, or knows what gender they are identifying as? Parents are children’s first teachers, or should be. Children have parents or guardians who are responsible for their well being. They should be the first people to know if there’s any issue/problem at school. We’re slowly taking away parent’s rights and responsibilities. As long as children are their dependents, they should be informed of any and all discussions that take place at school involving their children.
