Good afternoon;
I am a mother to 3 children in Virginia public schools and I am not comfortable with anyone of the opposite sex entering into a dressing area or bathroom where my children are. If you feel the need to send transgender children into another bathroom then my suggestion would be to have a third private option where they can go and change or use the restroom in private.
I am understanding that people have different values and beliefs. But I feel like allowing boys to go into girls restrooms and vice verse is extremely inappropriate and I do not feel safe with the decision to allow this. One of your jobs is to keep children safe. A majority of our children are not transgender and I feel like some children would be taking advantage of this situation. If you are worried about keeping transgender children safe then refer to my suggestion above about a completely separate area for them.
I was a victim of sexual assault at a young age and I just feel like placing my daughters in a potentially dangerous situation is not acceptable. You all need to do better at leaders and for our children then exposing them to this.
Let the sexually confused children’s drs and parents deal with their situation in private and you should stay out of it if you can’t keep the majority of kids safe.
sincerely;
Mrs. Heather B
