Please consider more agressive goals for the Virginia Energy Plan. Renewable technologies are improving rapidly, and their cost per megawatt are now competitive with fossil fuel.
The USA can be a leader in the creation of new renewable energy technologies, which brings new jobs that will last.
We need to reduce our dependence on fossil fuels - coal extraction has public health consequences (lung disease and water pollution), and both gas and coal increase the greenhouse gases in our atmosphere.
For the health of the people of Viriginia, and its coal extracting neighbors, let's phase out coal fired plants.
For the future health of our country and all the people of this planet, and to stimulate new jobs in our economy, let's make more agressive targets for renewables.
I recommend reading Shell Oil's Scenarios - https://www.shell.com/energy-and-innovation/the-energy-future/scenarios.html, which predict a much larger renewable energy market over the next few decades. Let's try to meet or exceed these projections, and be a leader in the deployment of renewable technologies.
