Banning people from legally carrying firearms in public buildings is a bad policy and will do nothing to make anyone safer. No one honestly believes that a person bent on committing murder (a capital offense) will be deterred from doing so by the prospect of committing trespassing (a Class 1 misdemeanor) by violating this regulation. The new regulation will also inadvertently encourage armed citizens to leave firearms in vehicles where the guns are more likely to be stolen.
