In regards to the current changes to the daily maximum units of 2 per day for Mental Health Skill Building clients; I am concerned that it will become more difficult to serve clients in rural areas where resources and/or providers are located in nearby cities or larger counties. Several of our clients are in locales that can be 45-50 miles away and when a client initiates services, many times they do not have ANY resources and are have no idea how to obtain resources to ensure a better quality of life.
This service has provided many individuals the opportunity to achieve and maintain stability in their homes and within their communities. The overall goal is to achieve a better quality of life for those who do not have a support system, quality medical/mental health care, to obtain and understand the resources in the community, how to handle emergency/crisis situations and reducing hospitalizations. This would be more difficult to achieve with the current proposed changes especially for those in the rural demographic areas. Please reconsider making a change to cap the units at 2 per day, because it could be detrimental to the welfare of the clients being served.
