The Second Amendment is not limited to forests

I find it ironic that people who oppose guns that are explicitly protected by the Constitution want to protect abortion that is not explicitly protected by the Constitution.

The second amendment protects the right to keep and bare arms.  Just because people like Carey and Charles Smith feel that they have a "I have a RIGHT to enjoy the woods" does not mean that the guarenteed rights of others should be infrindged.  Law-abiding handgun owners have just as much a right to enjoy the woods as anyone else.  Their fear of a handgun, regardless of its irrationality, should not inhibit others from enjoying nature.

I don't know about the crime statistics nor do I think they matter.  The second amendment does not guarentee a persons right to carry a firearm if they are entering a dangerous area.  The second amendment protects a right despite environmental conditions.

In light of these arguments, I fully support and endorse this petition.
