Abortion is a legal procedure. Efforts to make it "safer" are disingenuous and designed to make it harder for a woman to choose this procedure. It may also result in some clinic closures which will have a deliterious affect on women's health, contrary to the stated desire to make things safer for women. Trust women. Allow them to make their own, unencumbered decision and be able to act on it. Allow clinics to actually focus on the care of the woman who comes there, rather than measuring hallways. The small-government people make an exception when it comes to telling women what to do and taking the back door of onerous regulation to control others. Stop them! Thank you. Below is the suggested paragraph, which may cover something I have left out.
The current burdensome and medically unnecessary regulations will close women’s health centers, restricting access to the comprehensive health care these centers provide, including cancer screenings and birth control, as well as abortion. I urge the Commissioner and Board of Health to rewrite these politicized restrictions so that they rely on evidence-based medicine. Rather than allowing political or ideologic forces to dictate medical care, regulatory action should be based on sound principles of public health and sound scientific data.
