Clinical psychology graduates should be allowed to become LPCs because the course work required of clinical students is almost identical to that of counseling students. Clinical students can also take the few courses that were still necessary to fulfill the LPC course requirements, as I did. Clinical students have a strong background in therapy and understand diagnosis, two things that are necessary to be an effective and efficient counselor. There has to be the same number of supervised hours for both programs, along with documentation. They are practically the same program with different names. Clinical students can be an LPC in other states, why make it that much harder for people to do good in the mental health community, where help is really needed?
