Action | Regulations for Licensure of Abortion Facilities |
Stage | Proposed |
Comment Period | Ended on 3/29/2013 |
A 26 year-old woman died while undergoing an abortion in a local abortion clinic. The doctor performing that abortion ultimately surrendered her Virginia Medical License, but still owns and operates the abortion clinic at which there are still botched abortions and emergencies requiring hospitalization. Had the proposed regulations been in effect at that time, that woman's life could have been saved. Urgent implementation of abortion facility regulations is essential to prevent further deaths and injuries. Details of this death and license surrender action are in Virginia Board of Medicine Orders of 4/5/05 and 5/18/07 License No. 0101-023297.
