I am expressing my disappointment regarding the Board of Dentistry’s decision not to initiate a formal regulatory process that would establish meaningful state oversight, training standards, accountability, and patient protections for this newly authorized category of dental auxiliary. 

Allowing dental assistants to perform supragingival scaling is irresponsible and unethical. Patients deserve the utmost standard of care.
