Allowing cleanings only above the gum line will increase perio disease and can potentially cause more heart problems, low birth weight babies, and other medical complications. Hygienists are thoroughly trained to address medical concerns associated with gum diseases and all that goes with it. Allowing on the job trading will cause major health concerns and potentially lots of lawsuits when disease is missed.
