I oppose allowing athletic trainers to perform dry needling. They may know muscles, but they are not healthcare providers and a weekend training course is not sufficient to teach non-HCP to use needles a) effectively and b) safely. This proposal threatens public safety, increases risk and liability to the Board of Medicine, and undermines the rigorous education and licensure standards that licensed acupuncturists must meet and are enacted by Virginia Law and regulations.
