It is obvious that the Menhaden resource in the Chesapeake Bay has been depleted for many years by the commercial reduction fishery. By concentrating it's harvest in Virginia waters, populations and health of fish, mammals and birds have been compromised. As a result, recreational fishing in the Bay has suffered. Many of us have sold our boats, and abandoned Bay fishing altogether. It's time for decisive action. The problem has been allowed to fester for far too long.
