Staying in the RGGI makes sense for both Virginia's environment and economy. The allowances paid by electricity producers over the past few years have generated more than $500 million that will be put towards flood resiliency and energy efficiency programs in the state, which are increasingly important as we experience ever-higher numbers of severe natural disasters. To withdraw from the RGGI would be a mistake.
