Of all of the things that I could have thought of doing during childbirth, running was probably the LEAST prevalent thought in my mind. Although I delivered my baby as a free person, my focus was on my pain, on the baby's health, on my own survival (yes, I felt like I was going to die), and the last thing that I would have wanted would have been to be shackled to a bed or restrained in any way. This draconian practice must have been implemented by men, or by women who have never been in labor. Be human, be logical, stop this practice.
