Stay in RGGI: Stop Looking Backwards and Start Moving Forwards

We Virginians are tired of our politicians putting their profits before our health and safety. There are few other ways to look at Mr. Younkin's proposal to withdraw from the RGGI other than the boldface corruption that it is: he's selling out our environment and public health so that he and the fossil fuel industry can make bags of money.

What's sad about all of this is that using policies like the RGGI to promote the creation of more efficient clean energy production and storage would be a massive boost to our economy. With the RGGI as a foundation, we could focus our resources on developing more efficient renewable energy processes which would create jobs and help us move towards energy independence. Yes, energy independence. You know, that thing that would help every American by stabilizing energy costs and reducing dependence on foreign nations like Russia and the middle east? Yeah, that energy independence.

Carbon credits can incentivize companies to reduce their carbon emissions and invest in renewable energy. We will be better off if we take steps towards that future now. Overall, achieving energy independence through green energy production and the use of carbon credits is essential for a sustainable future and the prosperity of the United States. With this proposal, it is clear that Mr. Youngkin wants to forsake us for his own benefit.
