This is a discrimination issue, plain and simple. To deny certain rights and privileges to a certain group of people based on a specific criteria is against the vision this country was founded upon. Lets keep in mind that the Founding Fathers of this great country were fleeing religious persecution. They came from multiple faiths - Puritans, Quakers, Catholics, Deists, etc. This country was NOT FOUNDED ON CHRISTIANITY. In fact, they were fleeing persecution from the English Church - the prevailing church. A small group being oppressed by the major church. Sound familar? Not everyone in Virginia is a Christian. Not everyone seeking adoption is Christian. This country was founded under the freedom for ALL religions and all walks of life - not JUST the mainstream, not JUST Christian. Our Constitution reflects this.

I am writing this as a Christian. Frankly, I am disgusted by those who are hiding behind the excuse of religion to hide their own shame. For those who are Christians, it is not your place to judge another person. Those who do so are attempting to make themselves as God, which is just as much a sin. Love your neighbor. Love your enemy. Be in peace with those even who you do not see eye to eye with. 

This blatant spamming of "preserve religions freedom" which all essentially have similar messages perhaps made by a few people using multiple names is misguided. Adoption should not be limited to Christians. Adoption should be based on the overall credentials of the potential parents. Nothing - gender, race, age, national origin, etc. - should prevent a child from being placed with loving parents.
