As a sensible and resonable citizen, I am very concerned over this legislation and any others that limits the ability of law-abiding members of the community to defend themselves and their loved ones from someone who is an active threat to others.  In fact, designating an area a "gun free zone" has the counter effect of designating the area a "soft target", increasing the likelyhood that it will be targeted (and with gauranteed defenseless victims in the unfortunate situation where it is in fact targeted).

Further, where is the problem this is supposed to solve?  There have been no shootings in Virginia state agency buildings and the ban on concealed carry is even more unreasonable, as CHP holders are the most law-abiding group of citizens in the Commonwealth.  At a minimum, each and every one of them have received formal safety training as a prerequisite to receiving their CHP.

Since 1960, all but two of the public mass-shootings have been in gun-free-zones, like this regulation creates.  This would make state-agency buildings in Virginia less secure, not more secure!  Time and again we see reported, although rarely on the Main Stream Media, CHP holders around the country stopping bad situations before they get worse.

It is not prudent or sensible, based on the facts or even basic logical thought experiments, to approve this legislation.  This legislation, if approved, will only unnecessarily put more peoples lives at risk.
