Limiting the allowable service units to a maximum of 2 per day will greatly hinder the quality of services we can provide to our individuals. While they do not frequently need to be seen longer than 5 hours, there are some instances where this is justified (e.g. if the individual is in crisis or exhibiting an increase in symptoms, if they need assistance accessing community resources that are far away from their residence, etc.). Providers will have to see individuals more frequently throughout the week in order to ensure their needs are met. Not only is this inefficient; it will likely lead to an increased dependence on services, which is in direct conflict with the program's goal of promoting independence in the community.
