I support this amendment because I believe parents should be notified when sexually explicit materials are used in the classroom. I attended a Fairfax County School,  and was not personally assigned any explicit books when I attended high school, and am horrified that some of my peers were forced to read books with such mature topics without parental permission. Reading quotes from the novel Beloved made me sick to my stomach, and I can't imagine being forced to discuss the topics of the book in a high school classroom with my peers. I do not believe English teachers should have the right to decide what books are appropriate for high school age children in a public school system and hope this amendment passes so future generations do not have to be exposed to innappropriate topics involuntarily.
