Please reject this bill. The restrictions this bill would place on teachers and students would be detrimental to the goals we have for students to become independent thinkers and readers of multiple texts. What may be considered sensitive to one person would not necessarily be considered so by another. Students are taught to be critical readers, and if they encounter material they are uncomfortable with, they are encouraged to speak to their teacher or parent. Building wide independent readers would be greatly hindered by this bill.
