This amendment makes me think of Bradbury's Fahrenheit 451, a controversial text wherein a society burns books because they are now considered to be unsavory. Every text, in some regard could be considered to be controversial. If teachers are expected to appease every demographic, many significant texts will not be included in curriculums. As an educator, I use my best judgment when choosing both age and culturally appropriate texts for my students. Every teacher that I have had the honor to work with does the same. It is pertinent that teachers are trusted enough by the administration that hired them and the parents of their students. If trust isn't present, learning will not take place. 

Furthermore, the more time that teachers must spend on bureaucracy, the less time they can spend on creating effective lesson plans. Please reject this proposal and help to maintain a solid education system in Virginia.
