As a retired history teacher I know that learning thrives on open discussion of controversial topics. If everyone who is offended by something is able to keep it from being discussed, no learning will take place. Do not allow government to curtail the limits of discussion in the classroom in order to satisfy those trying to impose their religious and political beliefs on our children. If parents do not want their children exposed to the real world then they have options other than public schools.
