Parents have the right to know what materials are being taught in the classroom.Parents know their children best and should be in partnership with the teachers. It is appropriate for the schools to follow the FLE guidelines in all the classrooms.
I support advance parental notificationof sensitive materials as clearly defined in the FLE guidelines; identification of the books containing the sensitive materials as defined by the FLE guidelines; and a clear Opt-Out policy for students that would prefer to read an alternative selection.
