I strongly support eliminating Objective Written Documentation. As live-in caregivers, we often become the default option after multiple failed attempts to secure external care. We’ve experienced unreliable attendants who fail to show up, leave early, or neglect their responsibilities. The difficulty in finding dependable care pushes family members to step in and take on the caregiving role. We want what any loving family member wants for their loved one—consistent, reliable, and safe care. When that care cannot be found externally, we provide it ourselves. Objective Written Documentation is an unnecessary hurdle that penalizes live-in caregivers for stepping up when no one else will. It needs to be removed.
