RGGI withdrawal will not decelerate efforts to de-carbonize the regional grid that were in place before this carbon tax, which is punitive for Virginia alone due to roughly 70% of it being paid for solely by Dominion Energy of Virginia rate payers. $500M has been borne on this effort by Virginia residents and businesses already, and there could be as much as $300M on the line in 2023. GGI is bad policy and Gov. Youngkin is wise to pull out during this inflationary time where VA families and businesses are already struggling to control costs.
