18VAC160-20-97 B. 2. Difficulty for new installers to enter business.
18VAC160-20-97 B. 2. How can anyone become an alternative onsite system installer unless they worked for family or a very benevolent company owner? If you can’t install alternatives without the license how do you install six alternative systems? This would make it difficult for new installers to enter the alternative installation business, thus driving up the cost of systems. In Northern VA 80% of systems are alternative so it would be very difficult for a new installer to break into the business doing only conventional systems.
Recommend a section c be added making it easier for new installers to be able to become alternative installlers.
