The regulation should be changed to make Virginia forestry regulations consistent with Virginia law in state parks and other public spaces. Allowing law-abiding citizens to carry, openly or with a concealed carry permit, has proven to be sound public policy for many years. In state forests, of all places, citizens should be allowed to carry effective means of self-defense. Police are often far away or impossible to reach, and citizens are vulnerable to violent criminals, who will carry weapons in state forests regardless of the regulations. Please introduce some common sense into the state forestry regulations by granting this petition.
