Action | Tradesman Regulations - Regulatory Reform |
Stage | Final |

On the eve of final adoption of amendments to the Individual License and Certification Regulations (Tradesman Regulations – Regulatory Reform - 18 VAC 50 - 30), and on behalf of Virginia’s code enforcement community, I would like to take this opportunity to offer our sincere thanks to The Board For Contractors for its decision not to eliminate the continuing education requirement for Virginia tradesmen. When faced with a legislative mandate to discover ways to reduce economic burdens on small business, the Board ultimately deemed continuing education important enough to the public safety not to eliminate the requirement.
Each member of the Board involved in that decision should be commended for their efforts as well as those DPOR staff members who offered guidance to the Board and other interested parties during the challenging decision making progress.
Respectfully,
Paul Rimel, Codes Inspector
