In regards to the review 12 VAC 5-412, Regulations for the Licensure of Abortion Facilities, I do not want the standards lowered. The standards that were raised by the General Assembly are the current law of Virginia and should be vigorously enforced. If those that disagree with these regulations don’t like the standards, then let them go through the process of persuading the Virginia Legislature to change the law. That is the proper way to deal with these types of issues, instead of just trying to change these standard by pressuring state agencies to do what they want. The Health Department has no choice but to enforce the current law of Virginia.
