I support the removal of the Graduate-level course requirement in favor of an undergraduate requirement. This would streamline the pathway for educators seeking this endorsement and would make it more accessible by removing the barrier of having to pay for a graduate-level course. It is clear that under the current requirements, our system is not meeting the demand for educators trained and endorsed under ECSPED. This proposed action would help reduce the stress on that system by allowing more educators to enter those critical vacancies.
I do, however, believe that there should be some amount of incentivization for educators to complete graduate-level coursework in this field. The more critical training an individual has in this field, the more effective they will be in their role. Perhaps offering a tax credit or higher starting salaries for educators with such course experience would encourage this.
Thank you.
