Oppose GPS

Good morning,

I oppose this proposal. You seek to impose a heavy financial burden on the new hound hunter, all the while claiming to support hunting. GPS is often unreliable in more rural areas. This regulation is a ploy to use against the deer and bear hunters to add one more hurdle to hunting with dogs. This is one more example of anti-hunting bias of DWR and its Board.

The cost of tracking equipment is very expensive and not all hunters can afford these systems. The systems rely on towers like cell phones and we all no that cell phones don’t work everywhere. How will this affect homeowners that have hounds as a pet? Will they have to also prove their pet is not for hunting? For this bill to be specifically for beer and deer hunters is not right. The amount of money that is being spent to stop hound hunting for deer and bear is astronomical and those funds should be spent on other things that are beneficial to the sport.
