Concerns from a caregiver

 Hello,                                                                                                                                                                                                             We are writing to you to express our concerns regarding the ending of our virtual visits.

 Having a service facilitator going to multiple homes a day and then coming to our home,

 putting our family and the service facilitator at risk for illness from the spreading of virus;

more risks that are being placed upon our son with severe disabilities and is immune compromised,

  the risks increase when having the service facilitator seeing multiple clients a day back in our homes.

My kid with severe disability will not wear face mask at home in the presence of the service facilitator.

It took a lot of efforts to train our son to wear face mask when outside the home, in community or in school. But he would refuse to wear mask at home. Our son with severe multiple disabilities would not understand the danger of the virus spreading, so wearing the face mask outside of home to protect himself was just a habit we taught him when the pandemic started.  He wears just because he was taught to wear when being outside the home. For the past three years, we were NOT welcome anyone to come to our house including family member regarding gathering on holiday occasions or any events to protect our family’s safety and from the spreading of virus.

 In 2021, there were 2 family members, my sister-in-law and her husband, both passed away a couple of days apart due to Covid-19. That was the big loss and sadness for the entire family which left their two young children behind. It was affected to all of us a whole lot.  It is a nightmare and endless sadness for all of us. Therefore, we feel much safer doing virtual visits.

We would appreciate in receiving your consideration in continuing to do virtual visits. Thank you.
