I have heard the Staff explanation for requiring notification on arrest for a crime, and simply disagree. Beyond the argument that we are innocent until proven guilty, it is the responsibility of the Judicial system to deal with such issues. If an individual is arrested and there is reasonable evidence that they pose a treat to society or themselves, it is the responsibility of a judge or magistrate to hold that individual without bond. Since DCJS has stated that they do not intend to do anything with this information, and in fact cannot do anything of consequence to protect the public with such information, to compile it serves no purpose. Staff has more to do now than they can possibly accomplish. Don't add another paperwork activity.
