Increase pay of personal care attendants

Persons with disabilities are at greater risk of abuse and neglect, especially as they age. Having trained and high quality personal care attendants is crucial to making sure that people with disabilities are well taken care of, however, there are very few who meet the profile and criteria mainly because of the hourly rate that they receive for their services. The additional funding needs to be used to increase the hourly rate to no less than $15/hr. with incremental increases every year of $1.00 to reach an hourly rate of $20/hr in the next 5 years. This will definitely make the work more attractive to people who are qualified and interested in the work and will provide a stable and safe environment for this at-risk population.
