11 VAC 5-80-90 Sports Betting Platform Site Features

11 VAC 5-80-20.C

A sports betting platform must possess the following features site must provide substantial and readily available information to enable players to make informed decisions about their gambling, including:

1. With regard to any sports bet, prominent publication of, at a minimum:

1. 1. The handle total amount of the player’s bet and the wager selections made;
   2. The odds of winning the bet at the time of purchase and for parlays the pertinent information used to calculate those odds (i.e. odds of each occurrence in a parlay); and
   3. The potential payout amounts and a schedule of payouts.

2. Information on play in accordance with the house rules (e.g., player feedback); and
3. Designated player information or support services regarding play management tools.

GLI recommends moving in from 11 VAC 5-80-20.C and modification of item A to reflect the information displayed to the player on any sports bet they placed. GLI recommends updating item B to reference the house rules and to remove “player feedback” since it appears to be out of place.

4. An ability Ample opportunities for a player to take note of the passage of time

GLI recommends update to cover cases where the requirement could be met when the app/site doesn’t obscure the player’s clock on their device.

5. Game Site designs that promote breaks in play and avoidance of excessive play

GLI recommends replacing “Game” with “Site” since the only “design” in place here would be the website itself.
