I am Melissa and I am 28 years old.  I used to live at home with my mom and sister and get to do all kinds of things like play soccer, basketball, and swim with Special Olympics.  I got to attend church.  I got to see my long time friends.  My CSB worker had me scribble my name on a piece of paper while I was at day support.  I cannot read or write.  My friend is writing this letter for me.  My CSB worker promised I'd get to live with my dog in our own apartment.  They then took me away from my life and put me in a group home that sucks.  I don't get to go to church or see any of my friends or family.  I am frequently placed in a van and driven around.  I go to a day support where I watch TV and color.  I was trying to get a job, now my CSB worker won't let me.  I was raped in one of the psy wards they put me in.  Consumer Directed Attendant Care and an honest CSB worker would have let me stay home.  I can't do that now.  But maybe in the future other people will get to.  Maybe CSBs will stop excluding family from important decisions and stop removing people from their established lives they like living. EVV is making it significantly more difficult for people to hire staff for consumer directed services.  Please stop doing this to live ins.  Virginia doesn't have to do this.
