Virginia City Hybrid Energy Center

I was against the permitting of this power plant back in 2008, when hearings took place.  Far Southwest Virginia needs jobs, yes, but we need sustainable jobs that do not depend on coal.  I believe this region must stop depending on coal for its economy.  About 25% of Wise County has been obliterated with surface mining for coal and reclamation is a joke with coal companies falling short of necessary reclamation bonding, forfeiting on bonds and delaying any reclamation at all by re-newing permits just to stall.  This power plant in Virginia City employs very few people.  The power is utilized by northern Virginia and we are left with the pollution and extraction methods to keep it going.  I believe Virginia should be a leader for launching clean energy policies that utilize more renewable energy.  Close this plant and help bring solar jobs to far S.W. Virginia.
