Several UMFS staff reviewed this regulations in relation to KinGAP. We did have one recommendations as described below:

• 22VAC40-211-10. Definitions. Where “kinship foster parent” is defined, specify that individuals currently serving as court appointed guardians could become kinship foster parents – potentially as a separate definition; or by removing “committed or entrusted to a child-placing agency” to not exclude court appointed guardians.

Thank you for the opportunity to provide comments. We sincerely feel that Virginia’s KinGAP will allow more children to be placed with kin which will ultimately allow them to achieve permanency quicker while maintaining connections.
