Clarification on CPSS's ability (RE: Trapper Davis' comment)

Per Trapper Davis: "What does a CPSS who specializes in wetland deliniation or foundation soil testing really know about watermovement in soils as it applies to onsite wastewater treatment? I don't believe that the bill as worded would protect the public."

I would suggest that you know the facts before making bold statements.  Have you ever seen the
CPSS exam and what it covers...i am damn sure that its not just about foundation soil testing and wetlands delineation. It is a very well written exam that covers the most complicated components of soil. You obviously don't know what the CPSS covers so, here, i will inform you:
chemical properties, physical properties, minerology, soil classification, soil genesis, soil survey and
mapping, Photo Interpretation, Remote Sensing, GPS and GIS, Land Use Management and Soil
Interpretation, Acid Sulfates, Nutrient Management, Shrink Swell, Erosion Control, Hydric Soils, Soil Hydrology, Other Use Management and Soil Interpretation.
So please tell me how this does not cover water movement in soils!?????????

We, soil scientists, are really tired of hearing about how CPSS is 'voluntary'. Any licensure or
certification is voluntary...there is NO law that says you NEED to sit for ANY exam...we do it for our own good and to better ourselves and advance ourselves in our profession.
Shouldn't we get a fair stake in the regulations...since we are THE soil scientists in the
state (whether we are certified or whatever)...at least we are 'certified in soils'...that's better than
others that aren't nothing in soils'.
