Encourage Solar

I installed solar panels on my property in the winter of 2017. As a solar owner, I have since saved on my energy bills, supported a local Virginia business, and  now have the freedom to generate my own energy. Virginia's Energy Plan should expand incentives for customer owned solar and eliminate barriers to its growth. As global warming and climate change progress, it is more important than ever to abandon fossil fuels and embrace renewable energy. Incentives like net metering let solar customers like me easily track and get fair credit for the solar energy we produce. Arbitrary limits like standby charges and system size limitations discriminate against solar producers and limit solar job creation.

I urge you to expand, promote and encourage the use of consumer owned solar in Virginia to create well-paying jobs, to build clean, local energy into our communities, and to give consumers energy choice and freedom.  Let's look to the future before it's too late.
