Virginia Energy Plan

It is time that the United States looks for ways to ensure "Energy Independence" from other countries.  Offshore drilling will not only put us on the right path but would also create thousands of jobs and lower out-of-pocket costs for consumers.  Energy is a subject that has always interested me, as I retired from working as a NASA contractor in 2006 after devoting 15 years to Atmospheric Science.  My work involved basic research into the ocean and air exchange that explored and measured hurricanes, the ozone layer, and water vapor.  Before I was employed by NASA, I was a mathematician.  I also served 21 years in the United States Navy.  Offshore drilling will not only provide the energy we need but will also be in the best interest of our great country.

In 2003, I built my home, and I made sure that it is energy-efficient.  For my home energy needs, I use an estimated 750- 800 gallons of propane each year.  At $2.89 a gallon, energy costs have not changed dramatically over the years.  However, many other citizens do not have energy-efficient homes and would greatly benefit from reduced utility prices.  In turn, the average American will have more money to spend in his or her local community.  State governments will receive more revenue, as will the federal government.  The benefits are truly limitless.

It is vital to our country that legislators make the right decisions regarding our energy resources and proper allocation.  Offshore oil and gas drilling will put our nation on the best path for energy security and economic prosperity.  Please support this important issue.
