Dear Director Paylor and Members of the Air Pollution Control Board,

I agree with regulating the CO2 emissions and its vital importance in maintaining public health and supporting the general welfare.  Through my own personal research, I have seen strong evidence of the devastating impact that climate change has on Virginia, specifically the Chesapeake Bay region. With Reference to the US National Library of Medicine on the environmental impact on Tangier Island as well as other islands, there is extensive evidence. Regionally, climate change is causing higher average temperatures, sea level rise, and a higher frequency of extreme weather events.. Sea level rise poses the risk of flooding in coastal areas and wetland areas critical to the local ecosystem. Increased storm activity and higher sea level combine to create catastrophic storm surges that lead to flooding. Sea levels are expected to rise in the Bay at a higher rate than the global average. Climate change threatens the wildlife population, the natural ecosystem, man-made structures and human life.
