Why should abortion clinics not be held to the same standard as other surgical clinics?

Abortion clinics need to meet the same standard as other outpatient surgical clinics.  There is significant morbidity and mortality for the women who is getting an abortion.  Because the abortion clinics are profit driven, if there are no health sstandards demanded by the state, the clinics will cut corners to make the most profit at the expense of the woman's health.  They have clearly shown before regulations were in place, that many of the clinics were dirty and unsanitary when there were scheduled inspections.  Why are abortion clinics not regulated like any other surgical procedure. This is outrageous.  Women think they are not getting "back alley abortions", but without health regulations, they actually are getting "back alley abortions"  Women deserve better.  The states' responsibilty is the make sure that these abortion clinics are regualted to basic health standards.  If the state does not regulate these clinics, the government is not doing its most basic job. Please dont bow to the pressure of big money but stand up, protect women and demand that the abortion clinics have health regulations
